In precious metal casting, especially in the production of gold jewelry, the choice of mold directly affects the precision and quality of the final product. Graphite molds, with their unique physical and chemical properties, have become an indispensable key tool in the gold casting process.

Graphite mold for pouring gold are commonly used in investment casting, gravity casting, and centrifugal casting processes for precious metals such as gold and karat gold. They are ideal for producing complex and intricately detailed jewelry, such as rings and pendants, as well as gold bars with specific dimensional requirements.

The reason graphite molds are the preferred tool in various casting processes stems from four core application characteristics. First, their excellent high-temperature resistance. Graphite has a melting point of 3650°C, far higher than gold's 1064°C, maintaining extremely high dimensional stability during repeated gold melting and casting processes without softening or deforming. Second, their superior thermal conductivity. They can quickly and evenly transfer heat from the molten metal, enabling rapid solidification, thus refining the grain structure and improving the density and mechanical properties of the casting. Third, their good chemical inertness. This property prevents them from reacting with molten gold, ensuring the purity of the casting and preventing surface contamination. Finally, their excellent machinability allows for the creation of extremely complex and precise cavities through CNC engraving and other methods, perfectly replicating fine textures.

In addition to the above, graphite molds also have a low coefficient of thermal expansion and good thermal shock resistance, resulting in a relatively long service life and significant cost-effectiveness. Of course, they also have limitations, such as being relatively brittle and having lower strength than steel molds, making them more suitable for casting scenarios requiring high precision but not extremely heavy loads.
